Homage to Sorolla

De Spanish painter Joaquín Sorolla (1863-1923) is famous for his vivid and fascinating works. Very few painters have been able to capture the power of light with such mastery. His paintings represent daily scenes combining realism and a particular vision of the beauty of Mediterranean life.

Instituto Cervantes presents an homage to the painter in the 100th anniversary of his death. The programme will consist of a lecture by the director of the Sorolla Museum in Madrid and the piano recital “Sorolla, painter of light: nature, emotion, memory”, performed by the pianist and composer Luis Agius.
