Bartók Spring: An Evening of Mozart (Embassy of Hungary)
18 May 2021 @ 19:30 - 21:30
FreeThe Embassy of Hungary reiterates its call to all our music and art enthusiasts for the Bartók Spring International Arts Weeks, which will keep delighting us with great performances for the whole month of May.
Keep your Tuesday evening free: on May 18 the appointment is with ‘An Evening of Mozart’. The young pianist Mihály Berecz had been interested for years in performing the 18th and 19th century repertoire on the fortepiano, and the conductor György Vashegyi encouraged him to do so. Now they frequently perform Mozart’s piano concertos together and, on 18 May, they will perform one of the most special and mysterious pieces in the oeuvre, the E-flat major piano concerto, and the Mass in C minor, a unique piece of church music.
‘An Evening of Mozart’ is part of the Bartók Spring International Arts Weeks, a unique event series on the occasion of the 140th anniversary of the birth of Béla Bartók, the world-famous Hungarian composer. While offering insights into Bartók’s fascinating oeuvre, the festival also seeks to represent his spirit, creativity, and outlook in countless genres with the creations of the best international and Hungarian artists.
Visit the website of Bartok Spring for the lastes updates on ‘An evening of Mozart’, and to know more about the other events of the series. All events are available in an online stream until 24 May.
