StartPoint (Tsjechisch Centrum)
September 3 - October 3Free
The Amsterdam based Artclub and exhibitionspace Arti et Amicitiae proudly presents the exhibition STARTPOINT.
StartPoint Prize for European art graduates annually conducts a search for the most promising up-and-coming artists graduated from art academies all over Europe. Startpoint 2021, thus, comes as a selection from the comprehensive edition of 2020 that was presented during the lock-down in Prague. Not only were the graduation shows of the first pandemic year torpedoed by the restrictions, the possibilities for the StartPoint team to visit these shows were also extremely limited. Nevertheless, that pandemic edition of STARTPOINT provided with new talents that master an original and inspiring view of the world around us. They deal with social and political issues using the means of visual art and photography in which images play a key role.
The exhibition in Amsterdam showcases the winner of the main prize, Suzanne Schols. She embodies the main theme of this exhibition: engaged research-based fictional stories resulting in a series of strong images. All artists will be present at the opening on September 3, from 16:00 to 17:00. Do not miss the opportunity to meet them! You can register here to this free event. After the date of the opening, the exhibition will last from September 4 until October 3.
Artists: TASIO BIDEGAIN (Amsterdam), GENA KAGERMANOV (Gent), SUZANNE SCHOLS (The Hague), BRAM RINKEL (Antwerp), OSKAR HELCEL (Prague), SHIMON KAMADA (Utrecht). Curated by RADEK VÁŇA and PAVEL VANČÁT.
STARTPOINT is supported by Tsjechisch Centrum Rotterdam, De Brakke Grond, Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic and City of Prague.
