Nederland Vertaalt 2021: de Vertaaldag
September 25 @ 09:30 - 17:00€60.00
On 25 September, the 2021 edition of the ‘Vertaaldag’ will take place in the Beurs van berlage (Amsterdam).
Each year the event ‘Nederland Vertaalt’ aims to underline the importance of good (literary) translation and bring it to the attention of a wide audience.
‘Nederland Vertaalt’ consists of a translation contest and a ‘Vertaaldag’. The program of his translation day consists of a plenary part at the beginning and the end of the day for all visitors, four translation work groups, and a lecture program. A novelty of this year is a mini translation competition in which the three best translations (51 translations have been submitted) will be sung by baritone Maarten Koningsberger.
Participants in the translation competition can register to participate in one of the working groups, but they can also choose to follow the lecture program. Even those who did not participate in the translation competition can register for this lecture program. The working groups last one and a half hours and are led by the judges who have judged the translation competition entries. The submissions of the translation competition will be discussed in detail in the working groups and the winners will be announced.
Parallel to the working groups that take place in various rooms spread throughout the building of the Beurs van Berlage, lectures on various aspects of translation are scheduled in the Great Hall.
The programs of the lectures, the plenaries, and the work groups can be found on the website of Verstegen & Stigter –where you can find also the registration form and travel advises to reach the venue.
This year, the Vertaaldag is placed in the context of EDL (European day of Languages) celebrations: you can buy your ticket on Ticket office.
