Kaleidoscope of (Hi)stories; Art from Ukraine

Kaleidoscope of (Hi)stories; Art from Ukraine is the first overview of contemporary art from Ukraine in the Netherlands.

Enriched with a number of important pieces from Ukraine’s historical avant-garde, this exhibition narrates Ukraine’s cultural identity journey within the context of its enduring struggle between freedom and oppression. It does so through an array of artistic mediums, including paintings, drawings, videos, installations, performances, sculptures, sound creations, photography, and textiles.

On June 19, 2023, UNESCO reported a total of 260 Ukrainian cultural sites that have been destroyed or damaged since the Russian invasion in February 2022. Together with the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen in Dresden, Germany, the Museum de Fundatie has established a specific goal for this exhibition. Their aim is to actively participate in safeguarding Ukraine’s cultural legacy and providing assistance to contemporary Ukrainian artists, many of whom have been forced to leave their homeland.
