IN the framework of the 23rd edition of the Italian Language Week in the World, the Embassy of the Swiss Confederation in the Netherlands in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute of Amsterdam presents the film “Il mio corpo” (My Body) directed by Michele Pennetta.
“Il mio corpo” is a film set in contemporary Sicily and follows two parallel stories of survival and hope. On one hand, there’s Oscar, a teenager who lives with his father and older brother. Their family runs a business that recovers abandoned objects and sells materials. The relationship between the father and sons is marked by few brusque words, but they reveal scars from the past. Meanwhile, Stanley, a older boy from Nigeria, has obtained a residence permit but hesitates to leave the Sicilian island and the small jobs he does to make a living, including cleaning a church and working in the fields.
The film will be screened in the Italian language with English subtitles, and a refreshment will be offered at the end.
