Jef Van gestel & Peter Vandemeulebroecke: Deeg

In an almost empty world, two men stand, surrounded only by a few inanimate objects: a bucket, flour, a branch, a chair, a garden hose. Apocalyptic, futuristic, ritualistic, comical, cosmic and prehistoric images emerge. We watch two men trying to make something out of nothing. A reflection on how man is constantly trying to shape his world.

DEEG, nominated for the VSCD Mime/Performance prize 2022, is a new visual creation by Peter Vandemeulebroecke and Jef Van gestel on the interface between visual art, performance and physical theatre. The performance does not stand or fall with one particular interpretation and challenges the audience. This time too, they are working closely with theater maker Harm van Geel, who is responsible for directing.
