Jochen Lempert: Natural Sources
September 10 @ 09:00 - December 4 @ 17:00
In September, Huis Marseille will present the solo exhibition of the German photographer, Jochen Lempert, in conjunction with the Goethe-Institut Amsterdam. His poetic black-and-white photographs are inspired by his scientific background and knowledge and represent the natural world in its most diverse forms. Natural Sources marks Lempert’s first significant solo exhibition in the Netherlands. Initially a biologist, Lempert only began to work as photographer at age 31. His scientific knowledge of the natural world is the basis of his varied work in which he exposes flora and fauna in their multifaceted forms. Lempert examines the, often disturbing, relationship between man and nature in his photographs and invites the beholder of his work to look at what nature has to offer with increasing respect and empathy. The exhibition’s title, Natural Sources, refers to the resources present in nature that are indispensable for mankind.
