Dance: Faun

3 March 2022 @ 00:00 - 6 March 2022 @ 00:00

€14 – €16

Inspiried by the ballet “L!apres midi d!un faun” originally choreographed by Nijinski in 1912, maker Giacomo Della Marina aims at giving life to a contemporary faun.

Society struggles to accept non conformist bodies and personalities that choose different paths, whether they concern choices around gender and sex, shape, work, role, ethnicity, beliefs, age,… Not abiding by the rules, society demonises them.

They become like -in-between-natures creatures that live at the border of existence and nonexistence.

The acceptance of non conformity allows the possibility of being and legitimises choices. Awareness of identity allows individuals to acquire strength and become pioneers of their own personal freedom and cause.

In order to allow this freedom of being, society needs to accept the liminality of the bodies and the souls.

And if we look carefully, everyone can be seen as something non-compliant, everyone can be seen as a faun.

This performance strives to be a manifesto for inclusivity and acceptance of liminality.
