Wold Book Day at the Cervantes Institute in Utrecht
21 April 2022 @ 18:00 - 20:00
Cervantes Institute is happy to announce the celebration of the World Book Day and Spanish Language Day at its headquarters in Utrecht, with poetry as the main themes. Two poets will, therefore, take part of the event: the Chilean Ricardo Cuadros and the Argentine Alejandra Szir. Being a poet does not only mean writing poetry but also reading other poets’ work, discussing it, publishing it (La boca del desierto by Cuadros) or participating in poetries societies such as the online magazine El Nieuwe Acá (like Szir). During the colloquium, poems will be read by students of the Instituto Cervantes and the event will end with a musical performance with sung poetry.
About the poets:
Alejandra Szir (Buenos Aires) writes poetry, fiction and essays, and translates from Dutch. She is coordinator of literary workshops for Spanish speakers in the Netherlands. Her recently published book of poetry is Hermanatria (with María Ester Alonso Morales, 2020, La Plata).
Ricardo Cuadros (Concepción, Chile) has a PhD in Latin American Literature and has taught at Chilean and Dutch universities. He is the author of the novels Orientación de Celva (1993) and El fotógrafo belga (2006). His poems have appeared in Poemas del hambre y su perro (1994) and in his latest book of poetry, La boca del desierto (2021).
