Liza Houben – Sculptural performance installation (De Brakke Grond)
18 June 2021 - 24 June 2021
FreeAs part of the expo The Art of Escapism by Melkweg Expo in collaboration with the Holland Festival, Liza Houben‘s hybrid installation ~ LAKE ~ will be displayed to the public for seven days at de Brakke Grond.
The Dutch artist’s interdisciplinary sculptural performances revolve around topics such as feminine sci-fi, mental expansion, and transition stories. ~ LAKE ~ in particular is a sculpture from the future with a higher consciousness. A combination of two entities, made up of different components; an intersection of fluid phases and different properties, with qualities that bind them together. Together we will travel through thirteen seasons. The use of seasons is a way to capture complex matter, about society and the function of art.
The ultimate protagonists are the women of the future. They are not flesh and blood people, but a powerful and free consciousness that can take all forms, traveling through space, time, seasons and sound. Time becomes liquid in Houben’s interdisciplinary futuristic universe. It offers the visitor a sacred space to contemplate, to escape reality and to visualize a renewed future.
This performance consists of two parts, which can be experienced independently of each other. The different parts start @5:30 and 6:15. It is possible to book for one part however, if you would like to attend the entire performance (about 1 hour and 40 minutes), it is required to reserve a separate ticket for both parts.
