Petőfi200 exhibition

Between 4 July and 28 August, the Embassy of Hungary in The Hague is presenting the ‘Petőfi200 exhibition’ at the Amsterdam Public Library (OBA) to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the revolutionary, national hero and poet Sándor Petőfi (1823-1849). In the just 26 years of his lifetime, he wrote nearly 1,000 poems and had a great impact on world literature. He was also a key figure in the revolution of 1848 in Hungary and the author of the poem ‘National Song’. The exhibition (in English) focuses on Petőfi’s biography, poetic quotes and the historical context of his time.
