Outdoor art installation “Unbroken Ukraine Project”

16 August 2023 @ 08:00 - 12 September 2023 @ 17:00

The “Unbroken Ukraine Project” is a result of a natural collaboration between the humanist photographer Felipe Jácome and Svitlana Onipko, also a photographer and a dancer of the Hague-based United Ukrainian Ballet.

The project seeks to contrast the strength, determination, and beauty of Ukrainian dancers with the senseless violence, brutality, and destruction caused by the Russian full-scale invasion of
Ukraine.

This outdoor installation aims to show the fragility of culture caused by the brutal war and pay tribute to the strength of the Ukrainian People, a modern beacon of hope for the rest of the world.

For this project, the artists transfer the images of Ukrainian ballerinas, who found temporary shelter abroad because of the war, onto bullet casings using a UV printer. More than 9,000 bullet casings are used in this art piece. According to international analysts, Russia uses a similar number of artillery ordinances to attack Ukraine in a span of 4 hours.

The exhibition will take place in Stoperaplein, Amsterdam starting from August 16 and will last till September 12. The project is supported by the Embassy of Ukraine in the Netherlands and the United Ukrainian Ballet Company.

More information about the essence and technique of installation can be found on the official website of the photographer Felipe Jácome
