Spanish Centre celebrates Constitution’s Day with concert by Jonay and Mike (Embassy of Spain)
1 December 2020 @ 00:00 - 31 December 2020 @ 00:00
The Spanish Centre in The Hague (Centro Español La Haya) is an association that aims to integrate Spaniards in the Netherlands and promote Spanish culture to both the Dutch and people from other nationalities. On the occasion of Constitution Day, which every year on December 6th commemorates the adoption of the Spanish Constitution in 1978, the Spanish Centre, in collaboration with the Embassy of Spain to The Hague, is planning to celebrate that very day a concert by two artists of Spanish origin, Jonay and Mike.
Jonay is the son of Canarian emigrants, from the island of Tenerife. Mike also descends from emigrants, being his father’s family from Galicia while the family of his mother comes from Portugal. Jonay and Mike began their journey separately, but when they met at the Spanish Centre in The Hague about 4 years ago, they realized that Mike’s voice matched the cheerful sound of Jonay’s guitar perfectly. Since then, they have participated as a duo in various live performances, with collaborations for The Hague City Council, various cultural centres, theatres, schools and international organizations.
Due to the current COVID-19 situation, the concert has been recorded beforehand and will be distributed online via the Embassy’s media and the VIMEO channel of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), within the VENTANA program, a window to Spanish culture. The aim of this initiative is to promote Spanish creators, institutions, festivals and cultural industries through digital content to support their internationalization.
The video of the concert will be available on AECID’s VIMEO VENTANA program channel shortly. More information about the Spanish Centre can be found on their website.
