Comenius Day

On Saturday 12 March, the annual Comenius Day will be held in the Grote Kerk in Naarden. This year’s theme is War & Peace, Freedom and Security.
The Comenius Prizes for 2020 and 2022 will be awarded during this Comenius Day. The Comenius Prize is an appreciation for a person, project or organization that has distinguished itself in one or more of these fields in line with Comenius’ thinking and acting.
This year the Prize will be awarded to Tomáš Halík (winner 2020) and Beatrice de Graaf (winnar 2022).
Ahmed Aboutaleb, mayor of Rotterdam, will deliver the annual Comenius lecture, entitled Freedom and Security, during the award ceremony.
The Comenius lecture is intended to inspire. It is an up-to-date interpretation based on Comenius’ philosophy: education, science, meaning and society, or a combination of these.
The program starts at 13.15 and lasts until about 17:30.
The musical accompaniment is provided by the Edson Ensemble.
