Art is an Absolute Play: Jan Patočka on Art and Literature (Tsjechisch Centrum)
10 December 2020 @ 18:00 - 19:30
#GrowOurHumanity campaign is digging deeper with an evening dedicated to the Czech philosopher Jan Patočka and his thoughts on art, theatre, literature and criticism.
Jan Patočka, a student of Husserl at Leuven university, was a philosopher with major impact on Czech dissent scene. Patočka also reflected on the future of humanity in a globalized world. In his thinking, he remained dedicated to the value of responsibility – also while reflecting on art, a less known field of his work. His dedication cost him his life but remains a lasting inspiration for #GrowOurHumanity.
Co-organized by Tsjechisch Centrum Nederland, Czech Centre Brussels and Centre d’Études Tchèques à l’ULB the event will take place this Thursday from 6pm to 7.30pm and will be opened by renowned Czech journalist, philosopher and art critic Petr Fischer.
