Goethe Institut Niederlande and Institut Français de Pays-Bas are supporting the German-French artist collective Troika, in their participation in the FOAM exhibition On Earth, open until the 2nd of September 2020.
Technological developments and the quickly changing climate have fundamentally changed our relationship to nature. Photography allows us to observe the world and our effect on it, like no other medium, but can it be a catalyst is changing our attitudes as well? On Earth brings together the work from 27 contemporary artists using a variety of visual and digital techniques to document and explore our relation to nature.
Troika is specifically interested in the sunset: one of the most commonly photographed natural phenomena, we have the collective urge to freeze this inherently fleeting moment. Using a variety of digital techniques, Troika has created a continuous sunset or sunrise, alluding to our technological dominance over nature.
